White-necked Jacobin Feeding
This male White-necked Jacobin (Florisuga mellivora) feeds mid-hover at a cluster of purple flowers, wings caught in motion. I photographed him at La Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge near Boca Tapada, in the rainforest of northern Costa Rica. This original photograph is available in a variety of formats, from wall art to gifts.
His head glows electric blue, fading into emerald green across the back and a crisp white belly below. Soft golden-green light blurs the forest behind him, keeping every bit of focus on the bird's color and motion.

White-necked Jacobin Photography Print
Hummingbird collectors, this one earns wall space. An original photograph of a male White-necked Jacobin mid-hover at a purple tropical flower, electric blue head glowing against soft rainforest green, made for tropical bird wall art, garden rooms, and Costa Rica travel memories.
Some birds feel almost unreal when you see them in person. I photographed this White-necked Jacobin hovering beneath vivid purple flowers, wings moving in a blur, blue head glowing against the soft green rainforest background like a tiny flying jewel with absolutely no interest in sitting still for anyone.
Order this fine art photography print on archival paper for a classic gallery look, or as a metal photo print on dye-sublimated aluminum for sleek tropical color and luminous detail. White-necked Jacobin Hummingbird Photography Note Card
For the birder, gardener, or hummingbird lover in your life — an original photograph of a male White-necked Jacobin caught mid-hover, the kind of note card people frame instead of tossing.
While in Costa Rica, I photographed this male White-necked Jacobin hovering beneath purple tropical flowers at La Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge near Boca Tapada. Wings extended, blue head glowing, body angled perfectly toward the bloom — one of those fast little moments where nature does something beautiful and your camera either keeps up or gets laughed at by a bird the size of a thumb. This time, my camera kept up.
I print each note card to order in my small New Hampshire studio on heavyweight Red River Linen cardstock, with the photograph filling the entire front and the inside left blank for your own message. Archival inks hold the deep blue, white, and emerald green exactly as they looked in the rainforest, and every order ships with a matching envelope and a protective sleeve. It's a thoughtful greeting card to send for a birthday, a Mother's Day note, or a thank-you to any birder, gardener, or hummingbird lover who would rather receive a real wildlife photograph than another mass-produced design.
