Anhinga Wildlife Photography Print

Anhinga Wildlife Photography Print

I photographed this Anhinga on the Tortuguero canal, wings out, crest up, vivid green rainforest behind it. This is the kind of original wildlife photography print that makes a wall feel like it has a story. Not a decoration. A moment.

The Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga) is a waterbird built for tropical wetlands, and the canals of Tortuguero, Costa Rica are exactly where it belongs. I photographed this one from a boat on the way to Aninga Lodge and Spa, wings spread wide in the classic post-swim drying pose against a wall of vivid rainforest green. The wild crest, turquoise eye ring, orange bill, and black-and-silver feathers make it one of the most graphic bird portraits I have taken.

Available on archival fine art paper or dye-sublimated high-gloss aluminum, made to order in my Henniker, New Hampshire studio. Photographed by me, printed by me, shipped directly to your door.

  • Paper prints sized for standard frames, no custom framing needed
  • Sizes from 4x6 to 20x30 on metal, 4x6 to 24x30 on paper

About this Photo

Landscape orientation with the Anhinga filling the center of the frame, wings spread wide, the vivid blurred green of the Tortuguero rainforest behind it. The bold contrast between the black body, silver-streaked wing feathers, turquoise eye ring, and orange bill gives the image a graphic, almost painterly quality that holds at any size. It makes a strong statement on a large wall and reads clearly even in a smaller format.

On high-gloss aluminum the tropical greens and feather detail become luminous and vivid, ideal for a modern or nature-inspired space. On archival paper the same image settles into a richer, gallery-soft finish that suits traditional framing.

A strong choice for bird lovers, Costa Rica travelers, birders, and wildlife collectors who want original photography with real presence on the wall. Available from 4x6 up to 20x30 on metal and 24x30 on paper.

Fun facts about the Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga):

  • Anhingas are called "snakebirds" because they swim with only their long neck above the waterline
  • Unlike ducks, they lack fully waterproof feathers and must spread their wings to dry after swimming
  • They hunt by spearing fish underwater with their sharp bill
  • Tortuguero on Costa Rica's northern Caribbean coast is accessible only by boat or plane
  • The Tortuguero canal system is one of the most biodiverse waterways in Central America

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a metal print and a fine art paper print?

Metal prints are sublimated directly onto heavy-gauge aluminum, meaning the dye is permanently infused into the metal surface itself. The result is a high-gloss, frameless print with vivid, luminous color that is fully waterproof, fade-resistant, and scratch-resistant.

Fine art paper prints are produced on museum-grade archival paper with a premium luster finish, rated to last over 100 years without fading or yellowing. They arrive unframed and sized to fit standard frames.

Metal works beautifully in modern, high-traffic, or moisture-prone spaces. Fine art paper suits classic interiors and gallery-style walls where you want a traditional framed look.

Are your photographs original or AI generated?

Every photograph in this shop was taken by Linda Nee, with professional camera equipment. No AI generation, no stock photography, no compositing. What you see is exactly what she captured in the field.

Where are the prints made?

What sizes are available?

Prints are available in sizes ranging from 4×6 up to 20×30 inches. Available sizes vary by photograph, as some images are not offered in the largest sizes to ensure the print quality meets our standards. Select your preferred size on each product page to see what is available.
