The Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga) is a striking waterbird of tropical wetlands. I photographed this one from a boat on the Tortuguero canal in Costa Rica, wings spread wide in that classic drying pose, showing its wild crest, sharp orange bill, bright blue eye ring, and dramatic black-and-silver feathers against a vivid green rainforest background.
This original Costa Rica bird photography note card brings real rainforest waterway energy to any card you send. Printed on premium Red River linen cardstock with a textured finish, blank inside for a handwritten note, and comes with a matching envelope and sleeve.

About this Card
About this Card
Landscape orientation with an Anhinga filling the center of the frame, wings spread wide, set against a vivid blurred green rainforest background. The combination of wild tufted crest, turquoise blue eye ring, orange bill, and bold black-and-silver wing feathers creates a dramatic, graphic image that holds its own at card scale and rewards a closer look.
On linen cardstock the deep greens, black, and silver feather detail feel rich and tactile with real depth.
A natural fit for bird lovers, Costa Rica travelers, wetland and rainforest fans, and anyone drawn to wildlife with presence and personality. Works as a birthday card, travel memory, thank-you note, or a standout gift for birders and nature stationery collectors. Available in 5x7.

Fun facts about the Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga):
- Anhingas are often called "snakebirds" because they swim with only their long neck above water
- Unlike ducks, Anhingas lack fully waterproof feathers, which is why they spread their wings to dry after swimming
- They hunt by spearing fish underwater with their sharp bill
- Tortuguero, on Costa Rica's northern Caribbean coast, is accessible only by boat or plane
- The Tortuguero canal system is one of the most biodiverse waterways in Central America
