The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) is a common sight on North Carolina's Outer Banks, and I came across this one in the woods, her oversized ears and calm expression filling the frame against a soft green blur. She looked more curious about the camera than worried by it.
That same calm, quiet feeling holds up at 9.25 by 7.75 inches of smooth polyester with a quarter inch rubber base, sized for a laptop desk or a small office corner. This moment happened in the woods near the coast, not in front of a studio backdrop.
