My original photograph captures the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, looking upward through the grand gallery toward Charles Le Brun's painted ceiling, gilded ornament, and rows of crystal chandeliers. It shows the drama of the space without trying to fit everything in, that overwhelming Versailles feeling of beauty stacked on beauty until subtlety quietly gives up.
This greeting card measures 5 x 7 inches folded and is printed to order on heavyweight Red River Linen cardstock, with the photograph filling the entire front and the inside blank for your own words. Archival inks hold the deep golds, warm reds, and crystal sparkle exactly as they appear in the gallery, and every order ships with a matching envelope and protective sleeve. Hand-finished in our New Hampshire studio, it is a thoughtful card to send for a birthday, a thank you, or to anyone who would rather receive a piece of French history than another mass-produced card.
About this Card
About this Card
This Versailles Hall of Mirrors greeting card brings one of the world's most famous interiors down to a size you can send. The photograph fills the entire front of the card without text or borders, so the gilded ceiling and crystal chandeliers are the whole experience, which is why many buyers stand it on a shelf, slip it into a frame, or display it as a small piece of Paris travel art.
It is printed as a fine art note card on heavyweight linen-textured cardstock, with archival inks chosen to hold the warm gold tones and the cool crystal light of the chandeliers without losing the depth of the painted ceiling. A matching envelope and a clear protective sleeve come with every order, so the card arrives crisp through the mail or inside a gift bag.
The Hall of Mirrors (Galerie des Glaces) stretches 240 feet along the Palace of Versailles, with 17 mirrored arches facing 17 windows and chandeliers hung the length of the gallery. Built under Louis XIV and later the site where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, this is a meaningful card to send or gift to Francophiles, Paris travelers, history lovers, and anyone with a soft spot for Baroque grandeur.
