Male Red-legged Honeycreeper Singing
The male Red-legged Honeycreeper (Cyanerpes cyaneus) is one of the most electric birds in Costa Rica. I photographed this one in San Carlos, Alajuela Province. He was singing me a song and stayed long enough for me to capture every detail of his colors. While the female blends quietly into the foliage, the male announces himself to the whole forest. This original photograph is available in a variety of formats, from wall art to gifts.
A portrait-orientation close-up on a slender branch, vivid electric blue plumage filling the frame against a soft charcoal and green bokeh background. The turquoise crown catches the light just above the eye. Those vivid red legs grip the bark below. It is the kind of image that makes you stop scrolling. The color alone earns a place on the wall.

Male Red-legged Honeycreeper Photography Note Card
A vivid tropical note card for bird lovers, Costa Rica travelers, and tropical bird fans — an original photograph of a male Red-legged Honeycreeper in full electric blue plumage, looking like nature pushed the saturation slider as far as it would go.
I photographed this male Red-legged Honeycreeper in San Carlos, Costa Rica. Against the soft green of the rainforest, his electric blue plumage looked like nature had pushed the saturation slider all the way up and then said, "keep going." A small flying jewel with snack priorities.
I print every note card in my Henniker studio on heavyweight Red River Linen cardstock, so the deep blue of the plumage and the bright leaves around him hold their color and texture. Each 5 x 7 card ships flat with a matching envelope and protective sleeve — a greeting card worth keeping long after it's sent.
